Now serving fresh SEO
November 26th, 2008One of my favorite analogies for creating optimized Web content is to think of your small business Web site as a restaurant. Design Web pages as though you were preparing a keyword-rich content “meal” to your visitors and search engine spiders: don’t overfeed or create unusual flavor combinations on the same plate. Divide the meal into well-organized, easy-to-digest courses.
While creating content for your small business Web site, keep the following principles in mind:
Focus. Don’t let a Web page divert from its intended topic. Divergent information should flow to a new, uniquely-focused Web page.
Size. There is such a thing as too much information. All Web page content, including images and other on-page design elements, should take a few seconds at most to load. Major search engines will penalize your site’s overall ranking for having more code and similar ancillary design elements on your page than actual content.
