Senior PHP Developer
October 25th, 2008This is your chance to help shape the future of the creative industry around the world. crowd Spring (http://www.crowdspring.com) is building the world’s largest community of creatives, including graphics designers, photographers, writers, and others.
We’re looking for a Senior PHP Developer who is obsessed with best practices, Ghostbusters, web standards, the Hoff, textmate, burritos, and object-oriented software. We’re looking for someone who is tired of building things for other people and wants to be part of building a company, not just software. We’re looking for someone with a tattoo that reads ‘Open Source 4 ever’.
Have you written your own MVC framework (preferably in PHP)? Do you enjoy tweaking httpd.conf while analyzing ab in your spare time? If so, look no further.
What you’ll do:
- Tirelessly dream-up, collaboratively design and develop object-oriented code for our growing web application (already an award-winning site, but there is much yet to be done)
- Contribute to all aspects of a release (specification, design, development, testing)
- Benchmark and optimize application performance
- Help maintain and improve our development environments (LAMP/SVN)
- Push us to – nay, demand that we – embrace new technologies and continually deliver mind-blowing new features to our great community (our users come from nearly every country in the world)
What you’ll need to bring to the table:
- 5+ years OOP experience (PHP, Python, Ruby, etc.)
- 2+ years relational database experience (MySQL, SQL, Oracle)
- Experience with Linux servers and applications (web servers, mail servers, authentication, FTP)
- Plays nicely with others in a small group, warp-speed environment in close quarters
- An entrepreneurial heart
- Previous experience in an agile / scrum environment
- Experience with cloud (EC2) or virtualized (Xen) environments a plus
- If you have experience with XHTML, XML, XSLT, CSS, and JavaScript/AJAX, then we’ll like you
- If you have experience with content management frameworks (e.g. eZ Publish, django, Zend Framework, Ruby on Rails), then we’ll love you
- If you have all of the above, well – then we gotta have you
