Chicago Public Radio, (WBEZ 91.5 FM) is seeking to hire a full time Senior Web Developer. Reaching a listening audience of nearly 500,000 throughout Chicago and the surrounding communities, we are home to nationally distributed radio programs such as This American Life, Wait Wait…Don’t Tell Me, and Sound Opinions. We help our listeners learn about issues and ideas that affect the community, the nation, and the world.

The Web Developer is responsible for maintenance and back end development of the station’s web properties (chicagopublicradio.org, thisamericanlife.org, soundopinions.org, and thirdcoastfestival.org). You will be tweaking and pushing the envelope with our content management systems as well as developing solutions to provide a positive user and member experience to our visitors. You will also be managing vendor relationships where appropriate.

Experience and skills that we are looking for:
• Comfortable hand coding HTML, Javascript, VB.NET, CSS, Classic ASP.
• Experience developing dynamic, data-driven web sites utilizing multiple server-side technologies.
• The ability to integrate various APIs into your own custom code.
• Solid understanding of XML.
• Clear communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non technical people.
• The ability to work in a team-oriented environment, across several departments.
• This is not a design position, and our ideal candidate should have five years of experience developing and maintaining dynamic, data-driven web sites. Currently, our site runs on the Microsoft Web Stack (.Net, SQL, ASP).
• Experience with streaming media delivery is a big plus, news junkies are strongly encouraged to apply.
